Tulle bed skirt – A bed skirt removes and adds a touch of design to the room when coordinated with bedding, pillows, wallpaper and curtains. Because this bed skirt is removable, it can be quickly removed from the bed for washing. Sew several of these attractive edges of the bed for each bed in the house and change them out in season. This project, for a 60-inch by 80-inch double bed, does not require any special skills to sew, but is best achieved with a sewing machine. Measure the exact size of the spring of the big box. Use the width and length measurements to determine the size of the bed skirt platform, which is placed between the mattress and mattress.
Add two inches of each measurement. Turn each edge more than 1/4 inch twice and the pin for hems. Sew hems with a straight stitch. Attach the loop portion of the velcro tape to the muslin platform, 1/8 inch from each edge, with a zigzag stitch line at the top and bottom of the ribbon. Measure the length of the fall skirt from the mattress to the ground. Cut the fabric from the bed skirt to the measurement, adding two inches to hems. The width of the tulle bed skirt of the completed marriage bed will be approximately 220 inches.
Hem the top and bottom edges of the tulle bed skirt by twisting the edges of the fabric over 1/4 inch twice, pins and sewing with a straight stitch. Squeeze the upper tension of the sewing machine and practice picking up material on the light piece of cloth. This process may take some time, but, once mastered, it will save a huge amount of time during the process of the collection skirt. Use the tight tension method to pick up the fabric of the bed skirt at approximately a double fullness. Attach the hook part of the Velcro tape to the wrong side of the top of the bed skirt, 1/8 inch from the edge. Place the tape with zigzag stitch lines on the top and bottom of the ribbon.
